Fees & Charges

The fees payable by a resident in an Aged Care Facility are regulated by the Commonwealth
Government of Australia.
Below is a guideline of fees payable as at 1 October 2021

DAILY CARE FEES – payable by all residents entering care

The Daily Care Fee is a Commonwealth Government legislated fee and payable by all residents. This fee increases in line with CPI and the Australian Age Pension every six months and covers costs such as meals, laundry and electricity.

The Current Daily Care Fee is $58.98

If you have assets greater than $173,075.20 you may be asked to contribute to the cost of your care via the payment of Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD), which is a lump sum contribution to the cost of accommodation. Government legislation states that on payment of a Refundable Accommodation Deposit you must be left with a minimum of $51,000.00 in assets.

The Refundable Accommodation Deposit is refunded to you on your departure from the facility subject to any outstanding deductions such as the Daily Accommodation Payment, Means Tested Care Fee or any other costs which may be payable. If you transfer to another Aged Care Facility, we will refund your RAD within 14 days from when you provide notice.

Residents who have passed away will have their RAD refunded within 14 days of Probate being provided. The Refundable Accommodation Deposit is guaranteed under the Aged Care Act, 1997 (Commonwealth).

You may decide to pay your accommodation via a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP). The Daily Accommodation Payment is calculated using the governments Maximum Permissible Interest rate (MPIR).

The rate of 4.01% from 1 October 2021- 31 December 2021, is levied on any unpaid Refundable Accommodation Payment (RAD) and will be payable for the duration of your stay unless a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) is provided. This figure is for new resident from 20 September 2021 – 31 December 2021.

You may choose to pay via a combination of a Refundable Accommodation Payment (RAD) and Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP).

If your assets are under $51,500 and income is less than $28.472.60 you may, with approval obtain funding from the Department of Social Services to cover the cost of their care.

If you are a supported resident, you may be asked to contribute to the cost of care via a Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) or Refundable Accommodation Contribution (RAC) or a combination of both if your assets are between $54,470.00 and $175.239.20 and your income is greater than $27,952.60. You will be required to submit a Centrelink Income and Asset Assessment. Centrelink will then outline their payment obligation within 14 days.

A Means Tested Care Fee will be payable if you have additional income and assets and will require you to contribute to your medical costs.

The Commonwealth Government via Centrelink assess you once you enter a Commonwealth funded residential aged care facility. You will receive information regarding your Means Tested Care Fee obligations within 28 days. If this assessment is not
completed, then you will be subject to additional fees until the information is provided to the government. The Maximum Means Tested Care Fee that you can be asked to pay per year is $28,792.36 with a lifetime limit of $69,101.75

Fees payable by a resident in an aged care facility are regulated by the Commonwealth Government of Australia. Please call Centrelink on 1800 227 475 for an individual asset and income assessment. Fees and charges are applicable to you on a monthly basis and are invoiced in advance. Fees are payable by the 10th of each month. Our preferred method of payment is Direct Debit.

If you have an unpaid Refundable Accommodation Deposit, your monthly invoice will include an interest component on the unpaid RAD.
